Who writes this guide

This site is maintained by The Qingdao Travel Guide Team — a small group of travelers and residents in Qingdao, Shandong, China, who write independently about visiting the city.

Why we built it

Most English-language guides to Qingdao recycle the same paragraphs: a line about the Beer Museum, a line about the beach, and nothing you can actually use on the ground. We started this guide to answer the questions real first-time visitors ask — what to do in the first hour after landing, which neighborhood to book, whether your phone will work — with details verified on the ground rather than copied from press kits.

How we research and test

• On-the-ground checks. Attractions, restaurants, and transit routes described here were visited in person, most recently during 2025–2026. Opening hours, ticket prices, and metro details are re-checked on each update.
• Official primary sources. Visa and entry policy is quoted from the National Immigration Administration of China; brewery history from Tsingtao Brewery's official company profile; general geography and history cross-checked against Encyclopedia Britannica's Qingdao entry.
• Transparent uncertainty. Where prices fluctuate or policies change often, we say so and date the information. Every guide page carries a "last reviewed" note.
