Route Stops
May Fourth Square — Start
The modern heart of Qingdao. The red "Wind of May" sculpture is the landmark. Pick up a shared bike from any of the docking stations around the square. The coastal bike lane starts at the east end of the square.
⏱ Quick photo stop: 10 min
Olympic Sailing Center (5 min east)
The 2008 Olympic sailing venue. Marina lined with yachts and waterfront bars. The Qingdao International Sailing Center buildings are architecturally striking. Stop for photos of the boats against the skyline.
Coffee stop: Several cafes along the waterfront. Try the one near the visitor center — good espresso and sea views.
⏱ Spend: 15–20 min
Yinhai Marina (15 min east)
A quieter marina with fishing boats and small cafes. Less touristy than the Sailing Center. Good rest stop with benches and shade. The coastal path here is particularly scenic with rocky headlands and small coves.
⏱ Spend: 10–15 min
Polar Ocean World (10 min east)
Optional stop. A large aquarium and marine theme park with polar bears, penguins, and dolphin shows. Good if you have kids or enjoy aquariums. Skip if you are short on time.
Entry: ¥150–180. Allow 2–3 hours if you go in.
⏱ Spend: 0 min (pass through) or 2–3 hours (full visit)
Shilaoren Beach — The Finish
Wide sandy beach with the iconic Old Stone Man (Shilaoren) rock formation offshore. Much less crowded than the city beaches. Perfect for a final rest, a swim, or photos of the rock at sunset. The beach curves south with fine golden sand.
Facilities: Public toilets, showers (cold water), and a few beachside restaurants. Lock your bike at the racks near the promenade.
⏱ Spend: 30–60 min
